Celebrating Historic Leadership in Japan
In honor of Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s historic election as Japan’s first female Prime Minister, I extended my warmest congratulations to her. This milestone marks a new chapter in Japan’s history and stands as an inspiration to women and leaders around the world. The Northern Mariana Islands share a deep and enduring friendship with Japan, rooted in history dating back to 1914, when our islands were under Japanese administration. That connection remains strong today through the many Japanese nationals who call the CNMI home and through Japanese-owned businesses that play a vital role in our local economy and community life. We look forward to further deepening this partnership and, in the near future, hope to welcome Prime Minister Takaichi to Saipan, Tinian, and Rota to experience the natural beauty of our islands and the warmth of our people.
