On July 26, we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States Postal Service, a vital institution that has served as a lifeline for Americans across the country, including here in the Northern Marianas. For our community, the USPS is more than mail delivery, it’s a connection to loved ones, essential goods, commercial products, and government services. In a remote island chain like ours, the Postal Service helps bridge the geographic distance that separates us from the rest of the country. Whether it’s delivering packages from family stateside or allowing our small businesses to reach off-island customers, the USPS supports our daily lives and economic resilience. I’m especially reminded of the pride we felt when, in 1993, the USPS issued a stamp commemorating our political union with the United States and the enduring ties that bind the CNMI to the American family. Happy 250th birthday to the U.S. Postal Service, and thank you to the hardworking postal workers across the Marianas who help keep our islands connected to each other and to the world!
