Building Partnerships to Strengthen Coastal Communities
Alongside our Sea Grant Fellow, Lizzy Vise, I met Dr. Julie Lively, Executive Director of the Louisiana Sea Grant College Program, and Dana Honn, Founder and Owner of the Coastal Commons Group, during their visit to Washington. Our discussion focused on investing in workforce development, expanding market opportunities for local fishermen, and strengthening the partnerships that help coastal communities thrive. We also exchanged perspectives on the shared challenges and opportunities facing Louisiana and the Northern Marianas, highlighting the value of collaboration between coastal regions. These conversations will help advance efforts to strengthen our seafood economy, create new opportunities for fishermen, and promote the responsible stewardship of our marine resources.
