America250: America’s Field Trip

Newsletters

This year, our nation will mark the 250th anniversary of American independence, and here in the CNMI, the CNMI America250 Commission is already hard at work making sure our islands are part of that historic moment. The year ahead will also recognize the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Covenant, making this a meaningful time for reflection, learning, and participation, especially for our young people. One of the first opportunities this year is America’s Field Trip, a nationwide student contest open to students in grades 3 through 12. Students are invited to share their perspective on the question “What does America mean to you?” through artwork or writing. Selected students can earn an all-expenses-paid educational field trip to iconic American landmarks such as the National Archives, Kennedy Space Center, Yellowstone National Park, and others. Cash awards are also available for students and educators. This is a great way for our students to express their voices, showcase creativity, and engage with our nation’s history during an important milestone year. I encourage families and educators to support student participation and help make sure the CNMI is well represented as we commemorate this historic moment together.
