On Wednesday, I met with the CNMI delegation visiting Washington, DC to engage with the U.S. Department of Transportation, the Department of War, the Department of the Interior’s Office of Insular and International Affairs, and other federal partners on critical infrastructure needs in the Commonwealth.  Our discussions focused on the long-term investments required for our three airports and three seaports in Saipan, Tinian, and Rota, as well as key highway and ferry projects that are essential to connectivity, national security, and economic resilience.  We appreciate the leadership and collaboration of Secretary Ray Yumul, Administrator Wendi Prater, Special Assistant Alfreda Camacho-Maratita, Executive Director Esther Ada, CEO Esther Muna, Special Assistant Brien Nicholas Jr., and Chief of Staff Henry Hofschneider as we continue working together to advocate for the infrastructure our islands need and deserve.
