The House Armed Services Committee (HASC) has approved my amendment to the Fiscal Year 2027 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) to increase the CNMI’s slots at the U.S. Military Academy (West Point), the U.S. Naval Academy, and the U.S. Air Force Academy from three students to four students at each. This will enable more CNMI students to attend these prestigious, tuition-free colleges and reflects the CNMI’s unique contributions to America’s national defense. I’d like to thank my friend Congressman Jim Moylan from Guam, a HASC member, for submitting the amendment in committee on my behalf, and for HASC Chairman Mike Rogers and Ranking Member Adam Smith for supporting my amendment. The NDAA must still pass the full House, the Senate, and be signed by the President to become law. I encourage all CNMI high school students who are interested in attending these institutions to find the application form through my website.
