$21.4 Million Secured for CNMI Medicaid
The bipartisan Continuing Resolution passed by the Senate on Friday, August 8, to fund the federal government through December 11, 2026, includes $21.4 million in temporary disaster relief funding for the Commonwealth’s Medicaid program in response to Super Typhoons Sinlaku and Bavi. This one-time funding provides a vital increase to our capped Medicaid program, and the funds will remain available until expended. I am grateful to the Commonwealth Medicaid Agency, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the House Energy and Commerce Committee, and the Senate Finance Committee for working with us to secure this critical infusion of resources for a program relied upon by so many of our residents. I look forward to continuing this important work with the Administration and my colleagues in Congress to ensure this funding remains intact as Congress completes the Continuing Resolution to prevent another federal government shutdown. The bill now heads to the House for consideration.
