The CNMI has been awarded $10,162,706 in federal Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) following Super Typhoon Sinlaku. This funding will provide critical temporary financial assistance to eligible workers in Saipan, Tinian, and Rota whose employment or self-employment was interrupted as a direct result of the disaster. With the federal funding now approved and made available, the local government is responsible for administering the DUA program in the Commonwealth, including opening applications, processing claims, and delivering benefits to eligible residents. Our people should not have to bear the economic burden of a disaster alone. I will continue working with FEMA and our federal partners to make sure the CNMI receives the resources we need to recover, rebuild, and get our economy moving forward.
