The Joeten Kiyu Public Library (JKPL) has been awarded $100,000 in Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Program grant funds, the Institute of Museum and Library Services announced Wednesday. Funding will go towards JKPL’s project “Satba Komunidat” - Strengthening Library Staff Capacity: A Community Centered Approach Project, that provides professional development for library staff through workshops, webinars and on-the-job training opportunities. Topics include asset mapping techniques, community engagement strategies, facilitation, and collaboration skills. Congratulations to the entire library team who continue to make the library a place of learning and community for families across the Marianas. The Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Program supports professional development and training for library staff, builds capacity to serve diverse communities, and helps prepare the next generation of library leaders.
