The Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation has been awarded a $1 million Bureau of Justice Assistance Harold Rogers Prescription Drug Monitoring Program grant to implement the CNMI Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP). The initiative will strengthen patient safety and help prevent prescription drug misuse across the Commonwealth by improving data sharing, clinical decision-making, and public health surveillance. Planned upgrades include connecting the PDMP with interstate monitoring systems through the RxCheck Hub, integrating data into CHCC’s electronic health records, and incorporating overdose and mortality data to improve detection of misuse and fraud. The program will also provide training and feedback to prescribers and pharmacists while strengthening coordination with law enforcement and public health partners. CHCC expects the project to reduce prescription drug misuse, improve patient outcomes, and create a stronger, data-driven response to substance use trends across the CNMI. Congratulations, CHCC.
