Meeting with Department of War regarding CUC and CNMI Energy Issues

On Tuesday, I met with Deputy Assistant Secretary of War for Energy Resilience and Optimization Rebecca Isacowitz to discuss the Marianas longstanding energy challenges, which have been compounded by back-to-back super typhoons and instability in the Middle East. We discussed both immediate and long-term strategies to help address the Commonwealth Utilities Corporation's financial crisis while advancing solutions to strengthen the CNMI’s energy security and resilience. I appreciated Deputy Assistant Secretary Isacowitz’s commitment to working with the CNMI and will continue collaborating with her and our federal partners to identify resources and opportunities that help address our islands’ urgent energy needs.
