Lya Kim Receives Women in Aerospace Access Award
Congratulations to Saipan International School junior Lya Kim, who received the Women in Aerospace Access Award while representing the CNMI at the National STEM Festival in Washington, D.C.! Lya has been a part of some really phenomenal things. Her work on Identifying Saipan Native Plants for Long-Duration Space Missions, presented during the Festival, built on research she conducted with her teammates, Dong Hyun Lee and Dong Gyu Lee, exploring how magnetism could help plants grow in microgravity and support food production during long-duration space missions. Their work has also received national attention through Science News Explores. It is always exciting to see students from the CNMI taking their ideas onto the national stage and earning recognition for the work they are doing right here at home. Truly amazing!
