The Joeten-Kiyu Public Library staff — Patrick Sablan, Beth Demapan, Vincent Sablan, Celina Foreman, and Leoralynn Terlaje — visited their congressional office in Washington, DC on Thursday. The team is in the nation’s capital to attend the Library of Congress’ National Book Festival, an annual celebration that brings together best‑selling authors and thousands of readers for author talks, panel discussions, book signings, and more. During the festival, JKPL will showcase the Northern Mariana Islands’ 2026 Books of the Year: Guinaiyan Nåna: Mother’s Love by Carmen S. Taimañao, and Without a Penny in My Pocket: My Bittersweet Memories Before and After World War II by Marie S. C. Castro. Congratulations and thank you to the JKPL team for everything you do for our community — providing access to information, fostering lifelong learning, and serving as a safe and welcoming hub for discovery and connection.
