The good people at Ambyth Shipping and Seafix stopped by the District Office again last week to continue our longstanding dialogue about expanding the CNMI’s role in the national and international network of ship repair, maintenance, and servicing. Hearing about the work being done on the ground in the CNMI and throughout the region is incredibly helpful to my work on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and in our conversations with federal agencies. With more vessels operating throughout the Western Pacific, there are opportunities for the CNMI to capture more of the economic activity that comes with supporting, repairing, and servicing those ships. Thank you to the Ambyth and Seafix teams for continuing to share your experience and ideas with us. We will keep working to secure federal resources and policies that help diversify our economy and create more opportunities for our islands to benefit from the growing maritime activity in our region.
