On Wednesday, the congressional office hosted National Foster Youth Institute (NFYI) Kansas Delegate Billie Brannon as part of the 2026 Congressional Foster Youth Shadow Day. The program gives young people with lived experience in foster care the opportunity to share their perspectives directly with Members of Congress and help inform child welfare policy. Billie discussed her advocacy for foster youth and the importance of ensuring young people in care have access to the resources and opportunities they need to succeed. I was inspired by her dedication to public service and grateful for the opportunity to learn from her experiences and perspective. Thank you, Billie, for sharing your story and for your commitment to making a difference.
