On Wednesday, I wrote to Acting United States Postmaster General Doug Tulino calling for immediate attention to mail delivery delays to the CNMI. We rely on the United States Postal Office (USPS) to deliver prescription medication, legal documents, and other critical supplies. As your Congresswoman, I want to ensure the USPS is meeting their Universal Service Obligation (USO) which mandates timely and affordable mail delivery to all parts of the United States, including the territories. There are critical things residents of the CNMI should know about the services they receive from USPS, such as how decisions on the shipment of their mail is made, how long delivery times take, and what USPS is doing to improve services to the CNMI. These issues also have an important role in Congress’s role providing oversight It is essential we tackle these delays and I stand ready to work collaboratively with USPS leadership to ensure all Americans, regardless of zip code, receive the timely, and reliable service they deserve.
