Amalia Pangelinan Serving Community Through Recovery

I was proud to see CNMI resident Amalia Pangelinan featured by the University of Hawaiʻi for her work supporting the Commonwealth's recovery following Super Typhoon Sinlaku. Amalia, a Master of Social Work student at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, was completing her final internship requirements when the storm struck. Rather than stepping away from the needs around her, she shifted her efforts toward disaster response, supporting food distribution with World Central Kitchen as communities across Saipan worked through the immediate aftermath of the typhoon. Her story is a reminder that some of the most important work during a disaster comes from people who are already part of the community. Congratulations to Amalia on completing her degree, and thank you for stepping up to serve the CNMI when your neighbors needed it most.
