$59k for Prisoner Substance Abuse Treatment

The Commonwealth’s Criminal Justice Planning Agency is receiving $59,236 in Residential Substance Abuse Treatment for State Prisoners Program funds, the Department of Justice announced this week. Funds will help the Department of Corrections provide needed mental health treatment services for inmates suffering from substance use disorder (SUD) or co-occurring mental health disorders. Primary activities will include a 6- to 12-month evidence-based SUD treatment program within the correctional facility, access to outpatient mental health treatment, and reentry services that connect inmates transitioning back into the community with state SUD providers for continued post-release treatment and aftercare.
