The U.S. Department of Labor has awarded $1 million in Disaster Recovery National Dislocated Worker Grant funding to support residents of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands impacted by Super Typhoon Sinlaku. The funding will help create temporary disaster-relief jobs focused on cleanup and recovery efforts across Rota, Saipan, and Tinian, while also providing employment and training services for eligible residents. Super Typhoon Sinlaku caused significant damage to homes, infrastructure, and critical utility systems throughout the CNMI in April 2026. As our communities continue to recover and rebuild, this investment will provide critical support to affected residents while helping restore essential services. We appreciate the Department of Labor’s partnership and commitment to assisting the people of the Northern Mariana Islands during this recovery effort.
